Uri is 30 years old and is performing in a comedy play with his girlfriend, Natasha, who is 20 years old. During the play act, Uri's beard catches on fire. Natasha, seeing this, drops the tray with two teacups. Both of them try to save the performance; however, this is not the only obstacle they have - the lights go off as well.
Later on, Uri, since he owns the theatre and knows that art requires sacrifices, thinks about where to go to find people to invest in the theatre. Natasha tries to pursuade Uri to sell the theatre and to find other types of jobs, but Uri opposes Natasha's suggestion and, in desperation, takes an emotional journey in search for money.
The first thing Uri does is to go to ask for money from his ex girlfriends. Unfortunately, Uri not only finds himself in an unexpected situation with these three women, but he also loses his girlfriend Natasha, which leads him to realize that he has been using his emotional ties to these women for simple material gain.
He suddenly feels a strange appreciation for the fact that all his girlfriends rejected him and were right to do so. If he wants something for himself, he must do it on his own. Consequently, he begins to write a play about his past life while working in construction. An accident at work leads Uri to stay in bed and he writes a letter to his three ex-girlfriends about his play in such a manner that it persuades the three ex-girlfriends to give him money.
Finally, Uri produces his play, and it becomes a hit. However, when Uri comes home, he misses Natasha and sinks himself into an alcoholic state.
The movie “ High Heels”, it is about a married couple, they are successfully in their career but in their personal lives they always fight with each other. Sam wants to control and make his wife, Lucia to do different things only when he wants.
However, Lucia decides to make Sam to do things for once what she wants and when she wants. Consequently, Lucia uses sex as a mode to lead Sam into doing things in her own way. She dresses sexy with high heels as opposed to which she is used to wear which were conservative outfits. Also, Lucia dances a striptease thinking that this will impress Sam
At the beginning, Lucia’s different tactics do not have an impact on Sam; however, toward the end, Lucia seduces Sam. When Sam and Lucia are about to make love Sam reminds Lucia that only he is the man of the house. Which this turns off Lucia and makes her to show Sam that they are equally by leaving him aroused on the table in the garden and runs to the bedroom where she locks the door. Therefore, Sam is left to sleep on the couch in the living room.
Emotionally - Lucia is married to Sam, she loves him very much, and on the other hand she is frustrated with Sam because Sam wants to control her and to do things together only when he wants. Moreover, Lucia likes to plan dinners, vacations, and to communicate with Sam as much as possible. What is more is that Lucia prefers spending time with Sam in a romantic atmosphere, because in this mode she feels loved
But, Sam wants to do things in the spur of the moment, even to make love for him it must be spontaneously and in different places. And when Lucia is not receptive to him, he feels unwanted, unimportant and takes revenges.
The theme of this movie is: - No one can control another person. An individual only can control his/her thoughts, actions, and the use of words.
Tone - The film is comedy it gives to the audience a feeling about some marriages and their issues, which occur at the wrong time. In addition to that how some couples tries to dominate their partner and how they make full of themselves when they want to get the other person to do things in their own way.
Through the character emotions and physical actions the audiences can understand why the characters act under certain circumstance. Many couple can relate to the characters situations or at least imagining themselves that they might go through these different kinds of moments in their future marriage.
The film shows the characters personality and their lives by the use of settings, outfit, and their inner conflict along with their physical actions. In the living room the furniture is very colorful. This shows Lucia’s personality, she is intelligent, outgoing, sensitive, and she has a sense of fun; and a good taste.
In terms of outfit, in the first scene Lucia is dressed sexy with high heels. Her outfit’s color is dark green, which reveals her worm personality. As for high heels, since she cannot walk in them it shows that she wants to look different for Sam. Sam is dressed in a brown suit that expresses his personality of a conservative person.
The lighting in this location is soft and red; and the music is French. Here is where Lucia makes full of her self by dancing a lousy striptease in front of Sam.
Bedroom’s color is dark brown. Lucia is dressed in a pink sexy dress and Sam in dark blue pajamas. All this shows that Lucia is very vulnerable and Sam is cold toward her.
Also, here the tension between Lucia and Sam when they have a fight with each other about their past conflict which was about sex, builds up. Location of a bathroom is in light beige. Lucia is in bathtub covered with foam and she has a man’s hat and a tie. Now Lucia again uses her imagination to soften Sam and to make him do what she wants.
Which is to get Sam in the bathtub with her, nevertheless, she fails one more time.
In the garden the setting is furnished with a table and two chairs in white color. The background wall is arranged with green plants. The lighting here is soft. In this particular location Sam smokes a cigar and checks on plants, it shows that now he is the vulnerable one. When Lucia walks in both of them are teasing each other which leads to a physical fight, and the lighting here is a cross hard light which moves in a dancing mode.
During the fight Sam unexpectedly kisses Lucia, puts her on the table. Even though both of them are aroused, still, Sam reminds Lucia that he is the man in the house, which this turns off Lucia, thus, she runs to the bedroom.
The last scene Lucia is in bedroom sleeping in bed. A light from the window with shadows shows late night. Sam on the couch sleeping and also a light from the window shows that it is late night. The ending of the film portrays that Lucia refuses to be submissive to Sam.
Through showing this movie I want to reveal the issues that married couples sometimes go through. First of all in a marriage two people must communicate about their wants and needs in order to avoid tension, confusions, and boredom. Listening is the key to a happy marriage. Second of all, couples must compromise if they want to make each other happy.
To keep a marriage it is a job. Sometimes couple take each other for granted, it takes them into an emotional and physical separation. Lucia tries to change herself by dressing sexy and by being seductively. Sam sees all this and he still ignores her only because he doesn’t want to do what Lucia wants.
Lucia is determined to make Sam do want she wants and she puts herself through awkward situations; she even decides to confront him with the purpose to make Sam understand that both of them are equally. The message is: Those who want to get things done only in her/his way, risks to ruin relationships.
